Adam Sud

Behavioral and Nutritional Health Expert

Adam Sud is a behavioral wellness & nutrition expert, international speaker, and the founder and CEO of Plant Based for Positive Change, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing research and understanding of how nutrition impacts mental health and addiction. In 2020 he ran the first controlled research trial to investigate the effects of plant-based nutrition intervention on early addiction recovery outcomes. He currently coaches individuals using nutrition, the science of behavior change, and evolutionary psychology to understand and achieve their personal mental health and wellness goals.

Sud has studied the use of nutrition in disease reversal under the mentorships of leading plant-based physicians, such as Dr. Matt Lederman and Dr. Alona Pulde of the WholeFoods Global Health Center, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn of the Heart Disease Reversal Program at the Cleveland Clinic, and Cyrus Khambatta, Ph.D. of Mastering Diabetes. In 2015, he received certification from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies of Cornell University and the CHEK Institute Holistic Lifestyle Coach Certification. In 2020, Plant Based for Positive Change conducted The INFINITE Study: Pilot Research Exploring Plant-Based Nutrition in Treatment for Substance Use Disorders which is the first study to explore how nutrition might influence early recovery outcomes, due to the understanding that the standard treatment model for substance use disorders (SUDs) rarely incorporates a dietary intervention. Early addiction treatment outcomes showed modest but important effects of whole food plant-based nutrition and suggest value in further exploration of its use in SUD treatment and all participants experienced positive trends toward psychosocial health improvements.
